Informed Education Partners (IEP)

The IEP support group is a space created for families to learn about their child’s special education rights and responsibilities. It is also an opportunity for families to share the challenges/successes and ask questions. Our group facilitators are highly qualified and can assist families with their questions and concerns. This group is in Spanish and English.

When: 1st Thursday of the month

Time:  6:30pm-8:00pm

Understanding and Navigating the IHSS Program (English/Spanish)

This is a workshop that provides an overview of the IHSS Program. In this workshop, families will learn: The types of services offered through the IHSS program, the information needed for the IHSS application, how to keep documents organized, how to submit applications, what to expect at the home visit, appealing a decision when there is a disagreement and more. This workshop is also provided in Spanish.

When: 1st Tuesday of each month Spanish/2nd Tuesday English

Bugle Horn Autism Support Group

This is a community partner support group. It is facilitated by Florence Bracy who is a parent and an advocate.

The group provides opportunities for parents to benefit from the experiences and support of professionals. Participants will learn valuable coping and intervention strategies.

Bugle Horne is committed to offer:

  • Communicate with those who are living in the world of autism.
  • Access to highly recommended doctors, therapists, legal professionals, and schools.
  • Shared recreational ideas, outings and activities for our children and adult children.
  • Connection with world renowned research institutes.
  • Access to cutting edge resources, therapies, and providers.
  • Get support, encouragement, and helpful tips from others.
  • Learn strategies for self-care as caregivers.

Los Angeles Asperger Syndrome

Parents’ Support Group

This support group is for parents, relatives, guardians, and caregivers of people with Asperger Syndrome (of any age). Adults with AS, as well as professionals, are also welcome.

No membership or reservations are needed for this drop-in group, which provides a safe and confidential place where parents can give information and support to each other.

Childcare is NOT available.

This is a Spanish speaking  support group for moms who have children with exceptional needs. This group provides an opportunity for moms to network with other moms who share similar experiences. Participants will find support from each other and also learn from various presentations provided for the group.

Little Tigers

Little Tigers is a 6-part training series that is designed to empower families with children under the age of 5. The training sessions cover a variety of topics in child development, Early Start, special education and tips to building positive relationship with your child’s education team.

LEVEL UP! African American / Black Families Support Group

This a group promotes culturally competent support for African American/Black families. However, the group is open to all.  The group’s mission is to provide and ensure that people with developmental disabilities and their families have equitable access to information, resources, services, and advocacy skills that facilitate empowerment to “Level Up” their quality of care in collaboration with Westside Regional Center and the Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center.

When: 3rd Thursday of the month. Via zoom unless otherwise indicated.

Ethiopian Parents of Special Needs Children Support Group

This support group provides a culturally and linguistically appropriate support for families of Ethiopian and Eritrean who care for someone with developmental disabilities. This group focuses on outreach to the community, inform families about various services available, and emotional support.
